Are they asking for cash or card donations? My answer to the latter is politely along the lines of I don't give out my card or bank details to strangers, whatever the cause. yet to find someone to argue with that.

It's a bit like rape. Pestering is a violation of personal space.

I'm like you , I give , wholeheartedly when I choose to do so and when I don't then that too is my choice. I do not appreciate being pestered into doing something.

NO means NO !

You could turn this situation into a firm but polite NO saying exercise. It's better then being with anger and frustration and really empowering. I just said NO quite firmly to a marketing sales person who started to give me his sales talk and yee gods I feel empowered

I am choosy who I give to. I will not under any circumstances give to anyone who knocks on the door, stand in the supermarket shaking cans at me or anyone that approaches me in the street - if I want to contribute I will come to you thank you very much lol

I agree its completely unacceptable for an employer to pressure its staff in this way

But it is indeed a good exercise in the use of NO and the forward stare of iPodiness

completely agree, although i am an idiot and if someone pesters me too much i stop and lecture them
